The first consumer treadmill for home
use was developed by william staub a mechanical engineer at his plant in
Clifton New Jersey and later moved to little false Newjersy.
The four runner of
exercise treadmill was designed to diagnose heart and lungs disease and
invented by Dr. Robert Bruce and Wayne Quinton at university of Washington in
1952. Dr. Kenneth h cooper’s research on the benefits of aerobic exercise
published in 1968 provided a medical argument to support commercial development
of the treadmill and exercise bike.
